Am i emo?!!!?

I dress like an emo because i like it and my hair's emo style cause i like it, i like emo music, but i dont cut myself! people say they think im emo by looking at me, but are you still considered emo if you dont cut yourself??

Emo is a title you give to yourself. There's also the emo "look", but you become "officially" emo when you commit masochism, [cut yourself, take some kind of drug to simulate a false reality, etc...] wear heavy eye makeup and have piercings/tattoos. For me, I have piercings, wear heavy eye makeup, and am quite sensitive, no one else really sees past that, since I wear all black, and act depressed, I am a total emo loser with an eating disorder, when really...i don't have an eating disorder. But I do see myself as emo, though I'm not saying I'm proud of it - it's a long story...- . What other people see you as, and what you think of you may be totally different, and that is the way people are.
- Though people may think badly of you if they are convinced that you do cut yourself, so you might want to show an attitude that says, "I don't like colours, but that doesn't mean I want to die and take everyone with me." [If that is true]. I deal with this kind of stiff every day. I lost a "friend" this week because she didnt like that the way I dressed made me look like she was friends with a loser emo with an eating disorder. It didn't contrast well with her image.......anyway. Act happy if you are happy, it may confuse some people, but you are just being yourself. You don't deserve to be labled for being yourself.

I'm emo/goth sure there's a change and I'm a mixture of each... My dad calls me emish, I'm looking forward to that to trap on haha... Emos are nice the sort rocks along side the style in track and undoubtedly emo is created by means of tough lives or pasts nevertheless, this doesn't suggest we're regularly unhappy and depressed we do smile!!

You're called Emo because you look Emo. It's a style now, I'm pretty certain most Emo's don't cut themselves. If they do, well then they're stupid, but that's off topic.

Not all "emo" people cut themselves!!!! There's a stereotype if i ever heard one... First off, dress however you want to dress, wear your hair however you want to, and listen to whatever kind of music you want... and if people are calling you emo because of those things, then they're the immature ones because they're labeling you. Secondly, who gives a f*ck what other people think? If you're truly doing these things because it's what YOU like, then don't listen to other people. Their judgements shouldn't affect you. Don't LET them affect you. Do whatever you want to do and don't let your opinion of things get changed because other peoples' opinions aren't the same as yours, be original!

the fashion (emo) has nothing to do with cutting.
Cutting isnt even emo, theres a term for that... cutter.

most of my friends are emo kids
and none of them cut ourselves.
infact, the only people i know that do, are goths.
