As you probably know there are certain times of the year when Neptune is further from the sun than Pluto. People take this as evidence that Pluto is orbitting Neptune, which would make Pluto a moon of Neptune rather than a Planet in and of itself. I really don't care which it is though. Hope this helps!

According to the new definition, a full-fledged planet is an object that orbits the sun and is large enough to have become round due to the force of its own gravity. In addition, a planet has to dominate the neighborhood around its orbit.

Pluto has been demoted because it does not dominate its neighborhood. Charon, its large "moon," is only about half the size of Pluto, while all the true planets are far larger than their moons.

In addition, bodies that dominate their neighborhoods, "sweep up" asteroids, comets, and other debris, clearing a path along their orbits. By contrast, Pluto's orbit is somewhat untidy.

Up until 2006, there was no real classification for a planet. When the IAU (International Astronomical Union) assembly in prague of that year created a solid definition, Pluto, sadly, was no longer considered a planet. It is now a dwarf planet.

Astronomers weren’t confident approximately Pluto’s mass till the invention of its best Moon, Charon, in 1978. And by employing understanding its mass (0.0021 Earths), they could extra properly gauge its length. the main precise length presently supplies the size of Pluto at 2,4 hundred km (a million,500 miles) for the time of. even with the undeniable fact that it somewhat is small, Mercury is barely 4,880 km (3,032 miles) for the time of. Pluto is tiny, even with the undeniable fact that it replaced into seen extra beneficial than the rest previous the orbit of Neptune. over the previous few many years, helpful new floor and area-based observatories have thoroughly replaced previous understanding of the outer photograph voltaic equipment. extremely of being the only planet in its area, like something of the photograph voltaic equipment, Pluto and its moons at the instant are properly-known to be merely a great occasion of a determination of products noted as the Kuiper Belt. This area extends from the orbit of Neptune out to fifty 5 astronomical contraptions (fifty 5 circumstances the area of the Earth to the solar). Astronomers estimate that there are a minimum of 70,000 icy products, with a similar composition as Pluto, that degree a hundred km for the time of or extra interior the Kuiper Belt. And in accordance to the recent regulations, Pluto isn't a planet. It’s merely yet another Kuiper Belt merchandise.

Pluto is not considered as a planet today because aside from the fact that it is far from the sun's perihelion...the scientists have not yet made any exploration in Pluto, which could be essential in considering a planet...

What do we know? maybe it's just a big spherical asteroid?!
