Coy's Steakhouse in Hot Springs, AR. Two prime ribs for $17.95.

But seriously, often the best restaurant you can go to is one where the locals go, and which isn't part of a chain, or at least not a national chain. There is a small chain of Mexican restaurants in Laredo (Danny's), for example, that are just fantastic, but you won't find them anywhere else. There IS a wide-spread Mexican chain called Chevy's that's very good, but there aren't any in Texas, and the food is not Tex-Mex.

I usually eat almost 600 meals per year at restaurants, since I'm a trucker and I like to travel, too. DON'T eat at a truck stop; the truckers only stop there because they can park there.

The best restaurants I've eaten at are actually on cruise ships. But even they vary a lot.

And no one can tell you what is a good restaurant, unless they know your tastes.

Well, I'm not an aristocrat myself, and so I've never ate at a valet-parking, reservation-only restaurant. I would say the best food is probably from a Ruby-Tuesday-like restaurant. Applebee's, Ruby Tuesday, and TGI Friday are all about the same.

The best restaurant I have eaten at was The Old House. It was a wonderful steakhouse with great food and enough waiters that they could give the customers prompt service.

The best place ever is Coccia House in Wooster Ohio. Most people go for the pizza, but the pork chops are the thinkest and incredible tasting I have ever seen. IF ever in the area, give it a try...

Roy's. They are a chain and they're all over the U.S. but originated in Hawaii. Fantastic Asian Fusion cuisine with wonderful ambiance and service. I've never had bad service OR bad food at a Roy's and I've been to at least four of them! www.roysrestaurants.com
