Wow, didn't realize you Aussies got hammered so bad on your bike prices. Kinda weird since you are much closer to Japan than us Canadian types.
Pick the bike that most reflects the type a and style of riding you prefer. I might suggest the Bandit but if you are considering that I would look for a better deal on a V-Strom. I know, I know - looks weird, etc. ; give it an honest ride (if you can arrange it) and you might find it far more versatile if you end up leaving the pavement at all. Last time I left Queensland for a few days most of it was dirt roads and roo bars.
If your rding is going to keep you on the pavement I really like the VFR800 over the Bandit. The VFR I had was a 2003 with bar risers ( I'm 6'3") and the Honda hard bags. It was a great bike for going out with my sport bike buddies but I could also hop on it and ride for a 2000km tour in a weekend without feeling too tweaked.
Cheers

The vfr has a long track record and has won one of the top bike honors here for 10 plus years its a great bike. The bandit had oil burning issues here in the states and it wasn't a case of which one it was how much was it going to burn as they all did this. Do the Honda it looks much cooler anyway. the V4 engine sounds cooler and it is liquid cooled. people here in the states put 100000 miles on these bikes they are very popular. I have a zrx1200r and its a blast you can usually find these at a good price and they rip. out of the other two I'd go with the honda

Firstly what currency are you in? I would'nt pay 6K Euro's for a brand new bandit 1200, but if your considering 11K for a flippin VFR 800 take the bandit, you'll have much more fun with it.

I would imagine the new bike is a better deal, also more cc's and under warranty.

In my opinion neither. Use your money for a down payment on a Harley.
