What kind of food did ET first eat on Earth??

I'd guess the first food he ate on Earth was some sort of plant also. ET was not carnivorous. We never see him when he's first on Earth and for all we know he could've been here over a year before being stranded by his ship! The first food we 'see' ET eat in the movie is Reece's Pieces. For those on here who are so sure it was M&Ms, you're all wrong! lol! The story goes that Steven Spielberg asked M&M/Mars to provide the M&Ms 'free' for the movie, but M&M/Mars felt the movie would only relate to small children and they wouldn't benifit by 'advertising' in the movie. So, Hershey's allowed the use of Reece's Pieces, which was a new candy at the time that wasn't selling too well. The movie was a hit. The Reece's Pieces scene was famous. Reece's sold over 2 million units of the candy just after the first week the movie showed as everyone who saw the movie wanted to try Reece's Pieces too! So, Reece's Pieces became a hit too. If not for ET, they would've quit making them. Personally, I didn't like them because I preferred Willy Wonka's Ooompa Loompas which were candy coated chocolate AND peanut butter AND were slightly bigger than m&ms or Reece's Pieces. But, after Reece's Pieces became popular, Ooompa Loompas and almost ALL the other Willy Wonka candies just went away :-( Now I'm hungry! LOL!
