Del piero has also achieved a lot.But u see, most of the honors he has are from the Italian football federation, not from FIFA.He has got awards, but from the Italian football govening body, not FIFA.So he might be the greatest in Italy but not in the world.

Yes, Del Piero is awesome player. but you must understand that he is 13 years playing in Juventus (Italy), he scored 202 goals in 13 years at Juve, that's 15 goals per season and I must admit a lot of those goals were one of the best goals ever but he got all the awards in Italy, don't you think that if Zidane stayed in French league he wouldn't got all French awards!!!!! The best years of Del Piero's career was from 1996 to 1998....... who was key player of Juve then...... Zidane...... Juventus and Del Piero couldn't achieve all that if they didn't have Zidane....... it's the same thing with Barca now, would Eto'o be the best striker in Europe without Ronaldinho, I don't think so..... so basically Zidane has all the awards with Juve that Del Piero have...... if you compare Del Piero's Most Charismatic Striker in Italy 2001 and Most Popular Italian Player Award with Zidane's UEFA and FIFA Club Football Awards...
Best Midfielder: 1997-98
World Soccer Player of the Year: 1998
FIFA World Player of the Year: 1998, 2000, 2003
European Footballer of the Year (Ballon d'Or): 1998
UEFA Champions League Most Valuable Player: 2001-02
UEFA Golden Jubilee Poll (Best European player of the past 50 years): 2004
FIFA World Cup Golden Ball Award: 2006
FIFPro World XI Team: 2005, 2006
.... then you can see the diference between two of them!!!!
You can see here what 150.000 football fans from all over the world thinks about Zidane....

Oh why not ? I can list out a lot of Italians who can match Zidane's achievements.
Well lets take Alessandro Del Piero who plays for Italy as well as Juventus.
Del Piero may not be what one would call a "goal machine", but is certainly one of the most creative forwards to have kicked the ball. I think Del Piero has that extra bit of ease and confidence when it comes to handling world-class defenders and finishing the goal with remarked precision.
Del Piero has an impressive record of scoring 202 goals with Juventus and also helping Italy in difficult times [ You must have very well seen him play the semi-finals of the World Cup 2006 ]
Ill aslo list out a few achievements to prove how he's got the egde over Zizou.
7 Italian Championships: 1994-95, 1996-97, 1997-98, 2001-02, 2002-03, 2004-05, 2005-06 )
4 Italian Super Cups: 1995, 1997, 2002, 2003
1 Coppa Italia: 1994-95
1 UEFA Champions League: 1995-96
3 UEFA Champions League Finalist medals: 1996-97, 1997-98, 2002-03
1 European Supercup: 1996
1 Intercontinental Cup: 1996
1 Intertoto Cup: 1999
1 Italian Youth Championship 1994
1 Torneo di Viareggio: 1994
1 UEFA Cup Finalist medal: 1995
2 European Under-21 Football Championships: 1992/94, 1994/96
1 UEFA Euro 2000 Finalist medal
1 FIFA World Cup: 2006
And for some individual achievements, You can take a look at these:
U-21 European Footballer of the Year
MVP of the Intercontinental Final Award 1996
Best Italian Player Award 1998
Best Overall Player Award 1998
UEFA Champions League Top Scorer 1997
UEFA Champions League Top Scorer 1998
Most Popular Italian Player Award
Most Charismatic Striker in Italy 2001
UEFA Champions League 10 Years Jubilee Poll Best Attacker
All-time top scorer for Juventus F.C.
And its not just me who says this, Also the great Diego Maradona has said about Del Piero :
Talking about the best 100 world footballers ever he says "Here he is, he is different from Zidane, he likes to play, he feels it in his soul; between he and the French (Zinedine Zidane), I stay with him.
And with all this, Del Piero has also been mentioned many times as a very friendly player by his colleagues and also players from other teams. Well i guess u understand why i say that.
Anyways, this should be enough to prove that there are Italian players who can match Zidane's acievements on the field.

Cannavaro still has 3 to 4 years to retire..in those year..he might win the EURO and he already has one world cup just like Zidane..and who knows he could win 2 more fifa player of the year..besides this one who i hope will get it
Cannavaro might reach Zidane's achievement..maybe he wont be as the legend level Zidane reached and we all agree that Zidane is the legend..but Cannavaro might be very close to the achievement Zidane did

It's pretty narrow minded to say someones the best or better than others just because of whats in the trophy's cabinet plus your little mention about transfer fees is a little inaccurate.... I would rate Maldini a better player than Zidane simply because he's the epitome of what a player should be.

I agree.
The only people who could be atleast compared to the great Zizou are Maldini and my other favorite italian footballer Paolo Rossi.
Roberto Baggio is also good but not as good as zizou.
p.s. I hope noone's gonna compare Pirlo again lol
