Hopefully more than the Republican Congress has offered.

The voters voted Republicans out of power; let's give the Democrats a chance before everybody decides how they are.

Well if you're looking for a change from what's been going on recently, I doubt you'll see it. Most of these democrats are moderates or semi-conservatives. They'll most likely just sway with whatever is currently going on, rather than doing much about it.

Republicans are destructive.. and Democrats are idle. I'm sure this is probably the path we'll see for the next two years, and most likely beyond that..

I expect them to enage in mostly symbolic gestures designed to make the Republicans look as bad as possible, while everyone else pays for it.
They will do whatever they can to make sure we lose the war in Iraq, for instance, to make sure they will be able to say "see, the Republicans were wrong" for 10-20 years.
Hell, they managed to do that with the Vietnam war, even though Democrats got us into it (Kennedy, Johnson), and a Republican got us out! (Nixon)

They will immediately try to pass legislation that will ruin the economy while Bush is still in office, so they can blame it on him, to try to make people think a Democratic president is what's needed to fix that problem, etc.
In other words, exactly what they did for the 40 years they controlled congress prior to 1994.
I hope eveyone likes double digit inflation again.
