One and half days, yea it could happen.
If you drive to Lafayette via I10 then take Highway 90 east from there to NOLA, avoiding Baton Rouge Traffic at all cost. Highway 90 is not a Interstate highway so there are a few stoplights but over all a better route just a wee bit longer and if you catch rush hour in the morning or afternoon between Lafayette and New Iberia that will slow you down. Of course any where in Louisiana you drive, stupid is as stupid does. Takes about 5.5 to 6 hours.

When I loved in Houston we drove to Lafayette in Louisianna once, it took us 1 1/2 days. I would allow at least 2 days for New Orleans if you're driving
