People always talk about the singers, the guitarists, and the drummers. What about the bassists??? We have feelings, too! The only comments i've heard are somewhat negative like "What do you call a guy that hangs around with musicians...a bass player" Hardy har har. There are a lot of underappreciated bassists out there (including me). If no one else will make a stand for bass players, i guess i will cuz no matter what people say, I AM PROUD TO BE A BASS PLAYER!!!!!!!!!

Right on buddy. Im a bass player myself and i see and hear the same things u do. Recently tho, some of my friends have tried to start a band without a bass and realized there was a big chunk missing from their music. Thats why they asked me to play. Some times i few that bassists are the only ones that truely appreciate the bass and what it brings to music.

properly you could come to a call if having this guy as a pal or having a greater helpful bass participant is greater significant to you. i've got been in bands for some years and there is purely no thank you to kick somebody out of a band with out complicated emotions. the only different selection is to disband, wait a little while and then regroup with a clean bassist. Yeah that is form of a sneaky way, yet being honest isn't the terrific plan while emotions are in contact.

I play guitar, but i kind of understand what your talking about. I guess more bands have to play a bunch of Primus songs and Red Hot chili pepper songs in order to let the bassist get recognized. Most people dont care about the music, they just want to hear and see some stupid flashy guitar solos, thats what i've noticed whenever i go watch live bands. If its just a regular song, its hard to hear the bass. I guess you gotta be crazy like Flea onstage.

ohhh.... poor you! and of course you should be proud of being a bass player! and to be frank, i've never heard of 'bass-player discrimination' but totally i believe you.... but you know what?? bass is my favorite instrument among the ones you said .... guitar is just cheesy and noisy, battery doesn't make any melody and singers - well, they usually don't know how to sing - they're just the one person out of a group of friends who doesn't play an instrument soooo..... bass is the best! and i love that deep sound - it just adds so much to a song!
