Actually an out of body experience refers to the soul leaving the body. This is done in astral travel or astral projection. The soul travels to places that the body can not go. Some say that they have visited the 'Other Side" in this mode. It is said that there is a silver cord that connects the body to the soul during this time. Somewhat like an umbilical cord connects a mother and child during pregnancy. The cord is located beneath the breastbone .
I have not experienced this myself, but psychics say that they have. Enter 'astral travel' or 'astral projection' into your search engine and see where it takes you.
