Last night my work had their Christmas party and awards night. all year I have had the same team leader and we work really well together. I have worked outside of my normal working hours for no extra pay, I have been the one can could count on at all times to help with team moral etc. She constantly tells me positive stuff and encourages me. I have been asked to enter the first step to entering "management", I have been praised by all of the bosses for my work and have consistently exceeded goals and responsibilities set down for me by myself, my team leader and upper Management.
Last night my team leader gave "Team Leader - staff member of the year" Award to another persn! This other person is always in trouble for mucking around and taking jokes too far. He never works outside his hours, he isn't helpful to anybody in our team, he sticks to himself unless it benefits him...
He is kinda cute do you reckon it is because of this?
Do you think I should approach my team leader?

i dont think u should worry about it. he would hav bn chosen for a reason. they must hav seen something in him. mayb he stood up to the occasion during those last hours/days leading up to the awards night. mayb the work he produces is of a high quality. mayb they see potential in him. mayb it's for other reasons, like trying to make him feel part of the team. mayb they're trying to encourage him. but for whatever reason, u mustnt worry cos u know that you're better than him. you've accomplished so much more than he has while working there. u know you've put in all that hard work. just concentrate on reaching your goals, like with management.

I was ruined as a worker like that, i used to break my azz to make sure everything was perfect ( my job was to purify drinking water for municiple supply) I took my job very seriously (peoples health depends on this, we're not making match books), they always found something wrong, something to complain about, all the other workers just rode on the shirt tails of my hard work, and my boss was a DICK for sure, a back stabbing little worm. I lined up another job, and dropped the bomb on Chrismas eve, the night I was supposed to work, "Merry Christmas azzhole, I'm outta here" with the surprised look still on his face, i informed him that if I ever ran across him out in the street, his azz was mine ! I now have a new job, I just do what I'm supposed to, no more, no less ! This is why there is no loyalty at company's anymore, you no longer hear of someone being anywhere for 30-40 yrs, mngmnt has finally killed all the devoted people, everyone knows that you can be laid off, so there is no loyalty anymore, GOOD JOB BOYS UPSTAIRS IN THE SUITES, NOW NOBODY DOES SH-T ! You have a right to be angry, I would'nt go out of my way for them anymore, if they need someone to stay late, they can ask "Pretty boy", you've already done that, my bet is that the guy will bail on them, just work your normal hours, don't go out of your way, when called in on the carpet as to "Why your performance is lacking, YOU LAY IT ON THE LINE as to "WHY", throw the "I did it for no extra pay" card at them constantly, they have some ballz doing that to you, taking advantage of you, find another job, I would'nt work for them ! and I would let them know why.

If you feel that you have been hard done by, then the best thing to do is ask your boss to have a chat with you and raise it with them. You did say you get on well with your boss and at the very least the chat may set you straight on why you were not given the award.
You have nothing to lose so long as you approach it in a positive manner and don't make it sound like "sour grapes" because you did not get it.
Good Luck!
