I love my family, but I don't think I could commit a crime (edit: as stated in the original question) for them, unless I was defending them against someone who was doing harm. 10 years is a long time to be without the people you love. I think with some hard work and the grace of God, you can make it without being "financially set."

Interesting question. It's a trade off, isn't it? On the one hand, you lose the pleasure of your family, and in many cases, your children. However, you're secure with the knowledge that your children will want for nothing.
On the other hand, you could simply work your butt off to provide for your family, AND be able to remain with them.
I think I'd rather work my butt off. I just don't love money enough to sacrifice time with my children for it. Ten years is ten too long to go without seeing them smile.
Good question, though ... should get some interesting replies.
EDIT: Read your own title, you definitely did say you had to commit a crime ... it's the name of the question, lol.

No! Money is not everything. Money comes and goes, but you spending time with your family will be remembered and should be cherished. I may live for 100 years or I may die tomorrow, but atleast I know that I will see my children for as long as I live and not in jail where I might end up dead faster.

I would not do it. First, what it the point of making sure your family has money if they don't have you? Second, what kind of example is that setting for your children? They're going to think it's alright to break the law for money.
