Ok, I have a room and the socket connected to my lightswitch just broke... meaning, the switch, as far as I know it, doesn't work, and the only way to get lighting in my room right now is a floor lamp at hte far corner of the room (the corner furthest away from the door).

I was just toying with the idea of installing a motion activated light, with the sensor pointed at my door, and another motion activated light in my walk in closet (which never had any lighting before).

so... good idea, or bad idea? I live in the room by myself and enter and exit it once a day.

My skill level is beginner, I've replaced a socket and a switch, and rewired a 220 socket to two 110s... I've installed a high voltage outdoor lamp in a pre existing circuit, but I've never, uhh... rerouted? redirected? move? a circuit before, so I'm kinda freaked out. Anyone know a good website on wiring?

great idea. the wires you have in now are still good use them just turn the breaker off before you work we do not need you frying yourselfe. now if you want to save money get a solar motion light mount the charger out side an run the wire in say through a window. i did that in my basement saves me fifty bucks a year in light bill mone. this spring i an doing total solar lighting wise.

A motion light in ur room !!! I don`t think so. What happens if u want to read and ur out of range of the motion light ? Whats wrong with a floor lamp or a table lamp, much homier than a spotlight. Sorry, I don`t know any websites for rewiring. Why go thru all that when a regular lamp would work ? If u enter at dark, u can always get a timer to set when u want the light to come on, I`ve had them, they work just fine.

I am assuming this is a serious question. It is difficult to believe it is serious because you stated your youth pastor is considering the idea. Th ere is NO WAY any one inauthority over teen agers should ever consider such a ridiculous scheme! I personally think your youth pastor should be fired for even considering such foolishness. What is bing proposed is VERY dangerous. NO ONE should ever get into a car alone with a person they are not familiar with. And, teen aged girls should NEVER tease a man about any thing concerning sex. People have been injured, raped, tortured, and even murdered by getting in o a vehicle alone with a stranger and/or by teasing men about sex. This is certainly NO WAY to evangelize. You cannot find any place where Jesus, o r any of the Apostles, condoned this type of behavior rfor any reason, but especially not for the supposed reason of evangelizing. May I repeat? - What you are considering is NOT Scriptural, and it is VERY DANGEROUS!!! DO NOT DO IT!! Go in peace. And, always remember: -- Jesus lovesyou!! Sincerely, Uncle Floyd JESUS IS LORD!! Yes, your pastor should be informed of this immature scheme. Your parents should also be informed, as well as the parents of the others involved in putting this thing together. Other than letting your parents and your pstor know about this scheme, do not have any thing to do with it IT IS VERY DANGEROUS!!!

ya might wanna re-think the motion detectors, if you spend ANY time not moving in the room, the light goes out, that's why they don't use them anymore in bathrooms but, if you are in and out, it will work, those single motion detectors (no light attached) are expensive.
