Because people can be mean when they feel anonymous behind a computer screen.

I know it's hard to quit, but it really is the best for your baby if you dont smoke at all. Try your hardest to quit, thinking of how it could affect your child. Read up online about the effects of smoking on unborn children and hopefully that'll give you the will-power. Also, talk to your doctor to see what other methods he/she can suggest to quit.

Good luck!

Smoking has detrimental effects on the unborn child. That is a fact. What people tend to do is pontificate, or idealize. You now have a responsibility to the unborn child and you should not try to justify smoking during pregnancy. That having been said, it is better to reduce the amount that you smoke as opposed to no change at all. Do what you can. The first trimester (up to 13 weeks) is the most important. Any person that you perceive as 'mean' is probably more concerned about your child than your feelings. So get over it.

i answered one of your other questions... i am sorry people are being mean .. it is really hard to just quit i know.... just try to cut down ... each cigarette you dont have just tell yourself you are doing it for the baby ... remember that your baby is also getting all the bad stuff from you smoking the chemicals ect.. i think how innocent and dependent the baby is on you for life and health right now.... like i said in the other question i just cut down ALOT .. try to keep yourself busy.... i worked during my first 6 months of pregnancy i am a housekeeper so when i got home in the evening i just past out...lol so it helped not thinking about having a smoke!... my cousin smoked while pregnant and so have friends and have had perfectly healthy babies of course this isnt a excuse to continue smoking up a storm... just do your best take your prenantal vitamins and keep your and the babies health at the top of your prioritys!! good luck!.... and congradulations on the baby!!!!!!!!!!

THAT'S NOT TRUE THAT EVERYONE WHO GOES ON ABOUT QUITING IS A NON SMOKER ex-smoker also say something because they have been there and can smell the smoke that's on you and in your clothes and they think about when they used to smoke and everytime they see or smell the smoke it sometimes makes them want one again and then they have to fight the feeling to have a cigarette again it is just like when they first quit it is hard but look at it this way do you want you child or that cigarette more each time you go for a cigarette

Do not stress about it, please. And do not try nicotine patches, they put way to much nicotine into your blood at once & baby gets a days worth in a hour! Other than that, cut back & you will eventually be done, my hubbys cousin smoked so much during pregnancy, her doctor eventually told her not to stop, because she was so far along & baby now needed the ncotine. People still insisted she stop, she did for 48 hours baby went into distress irregual heart beat, she was givena patch in the hospital & it took all stress off baby! Her baby was healthy overdue too! I do not recommened smoking through pregnancy however stressing to quit will only cause you to smoke more. Good Luck

I will admit this, i smoked while pregnant. I didn't smoke like a pack a day or anything like that. My son was born healthy and he still is. I know it is hard to quit. People that go on about how easy it is to quit are non smokers.

You could be doing worse things like smoking crack. Just try to taper off on smoking. Smoke less or ask your doctor for help.

Good luck and congrats

A girlfriend of mine smoked throught out her whole pregnancy and luckily her baby is healthy. Smoking while pregnant causes asthma and other lung problems. Try to cut down if you can't quit. but your best bet is to quit!!

i will not be rude i hate it when people get hateful, anyways i smoked the whole pregnancy with my 1st child, he was 3 weeks premature and developed r.s.v. when he was 5 months old other than that he is perfectly healthy but i would try to quit even after the baby is born i recommend that you stay away from the cigarettes. cigarette smoke contributes to more severe ear infections and causes them earlier than usual best of luck-lani

hunni i was never able to stop when i had all my babies but i did cut down loads, the doctor has told me that even cutting down has benefits, i have 4 children all born 100% healthy and am having # 5 now.
i get sick of ppl saying "cold turkey" i just stopped etc.
cut down as much as you can, when you feel you want to smoke have a drink or sweet/lolly, i can go most of the day now without lighting up,
don't let ppl get you down
congratulations on the baby x x x x

ok i'm going ot try NOT to be mean, its not meant to be mean but i had my daughter over 10 weeks prematurely and NO i didnt smoke but i know that thats an VERY high risk factor for having a preemie and hun, you do NOT want a preemie.. maybe ask to tour your hospitals NICU, that might drive it home to you. sick babies are not fun by any means... My mother smoked while pg with me, and i was a very sick baby. I only weighed 5 lbs, had an immunodeficiency (had to receive gamma globulin shots), and have had more than my fair share of illnessed during my life. not to mention who knows what types of cancers can lay dormant in your body until you get older.. just because you smokeand happen to give birth to a "healthY" baby, doesnt mean they wont suffer for it later in life. I know its hard to quit but ask your doctor for help then (medications, hypnotherapy, whatever). its a reaaaaaaaly reaaaaaaaly important thing to do.
