After much research and using the aida32, its quite aparent that the sound card is indeed
ATI SB300C AC'97 Audio controler but the driver for that is nowhere to be found. I have checked everywhere even on the hp site, but the driver they give for sound is incorrect.
Please HELP!

go here: http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html?pageDisplay=drivers and click the START DETECTION button, it will find the right drive...it looks at your system and gets the right one...I had the same problem.
*THIS IS THE WRONG DRIVER : ADI 1981B Audio Driver for NVIDIA Chipset*
you can waste time looking elsewhere but this will do it for you...

Two places to check are the ATI website (Support/Downloads section) and try running Windows Update if you are using a Microsoft OS. You can also check the link posted below.

Type "ATI SB300C" in any search engines : yahoo or google, and you will find a lot of websites that may have a driver for your soundcard.

This driver "SHOULD" work, if it does not, call HP!!!!!!!

http://www.driverguide.com has a bunch of drivers for everything. You might find it there as well.
