I need to send an item that weighs about 2 pounds through the mail, but I've never done this before so could anybody tell me what I would have to do?.. would I just take it to the post office? Haha sorry for sounding not so intelligent!

also, does anybody know how much an item weighing near 2 pounds would cost to send? thanks much!

you must wrap it correctly , tape it and tie string on if need be ... put correct address for sender and reciver... take it to your post office and they will weight it and tell you how it cost... and do you want to insure it ....
there are certain guidelines the post office have.. check with them... and you can also vheck out their web site for all info... they have a very good web site...

Im not exactly sure how much but it wont be much.Wrap the package in brown paper.Tape closed. Address it to where its going ,,like a letter & with a return address. Take it to post office,,they will stamp it for you according to weight.Thats all there is to it.If it is breakable,,wrap it firmly in the inside with tissue paper or newspaper.

Take it to your local post office. But before you get there, make sure your package is wrapped and addressed properly.

Yeah....you don't sound so intelligent. Go to the post office or a UPS store or try fed ex. You sound lazy.
