I've been questioning existence, and so much of it does not make sense to me with the presence of seeming paradoxes, absurdities, conformity, and the idea of meaninglessness. I really do feel empty a lot, withdrawn, and I try to get myself to feel better but eventually I retreat to this state. My grades are deteriorating, and I do not feel like doing much of anything. I feel against my school system, and I'm questioning whether what I am learning has any point. I feel like I want to talk to someone, but when I tell my parents or sister about my perceptions they get puzzled, they think I'm 'weird' or they just get frustrated. The only person I can think of talking to is my teacher, since the class is actually one I respect since its English and isn't so structured, but I just don't know how to approach him or ask him. I just feel too nervous to do something like that, and I'm scared he'll tell my parents or get others involved.

Thanks for your reply...unfortunately I'm just sixteen so I'm a bit constrained to take certain courses to graduate high school. I don't like them, but I don't really have a choice.

It sounds like you are being intelligent in a very unintelligible world. It takes work to get out of where you are. But if it will help, try to understand that your thoughts are not realities, they are like the menu, and life is the dinner. If you spend all your time thinking, you will only succeed in being an expert on menus, and you will not satisfy your hunger that way. Go out in nature and listen, play with babies and puppies, sit by a stream, get out into life. Learning definitely has a point, but what you study needs to be what really motivates you, not what is given to you by someone else. If you study that, you will find it has meaning. Most schools are stupid, becoming factories to turn out good wage slaves for industry. Learn for yourself, study what you want, and get out in nature. Best wishes for your journey. Email if you like
