I asked this question once before, but did not get many direct responses. The novel is a psychological/spy/mainstream/action thriller.

Both the plot and the character development are too intricate for all the novel writing software. With that in mind, I wanted to give it a title that begs you to read it. It is, first and foremost, a psychological thriller. All the other elements support the plot.

I just need to know how the title makes you feel in your own words. Please describe your feelings.

I need to add that this title is part one of a trilogy named Psychotic Espionage.

1. The Third Entity

2. Tristan Ressurrection

3. Endless Boundaries

Someone below went a little too personal by attempting to analyze me when they don't have the first clue what type of person that I am. My question only concerns the title of my novel.

Thank your for your understanding.

It sounds riviting! It gets my attention and reminds me of Manchurian Candidate. This is the kind of thriller that I like. I am very curious to read a couple of pages and see who the character is, and the 3rd Entity.

Translation: The Crazy Spy 3 Doesn't really get it done, does it. You write/and/speak/like/you/are /programming/a/computer. You sound like an extremely intelligent, yet somewhat insecure young man. Take some time to simplify your intricacies and maybe step away from the computer and do some real world observing. You'd be amazed at what you can learn by watching the interactions of others. You could overhear a conversation in a restaurant and from that write the next New York Times best seller. Scrap the title, send the novel writing software to the "recycle bin". Get yourself one of those...damn, I can't remember the name of those hats. Something like Bogart used to wear. Anyway, try getting in the "writing" mood the old-fashioned way. A novel is not an experiment. It should flow. If it doesn't feel right to you. It probably isn't. Perseverance and dedication to the idea...that will get you there. When you're done, you won't need a survey to feel your accomplishment. You'll just know.

It makes me confused. "Psychotic" means insane, crazy, schizophrenic; probably not what you mean by a psychological thriller. Even is there is a schizophrenic character, psychotic is a very strong word to use in a title.

And "Entity" is one of the most general words ever, it's like saying "The Third Thing." "The Third Entity" as a subtitle makes it sound like a really generic attempt at a cool-sounding title.

My suggestion is to not use the word Psychotic or Psychological in the title, you don't want to be too obvious that it is a psychological story. And you should have a more specific subtitle to grab attention. Here is an example: Deadly Wrong: The Third Sabotage.

It makes me think I'd find the book either in the True Crimes section, or in the World War II history section of a book store. If I saw it in the mystery/suspense section, I'd think it was mis-shelved.

As for whether or not I'd want to read it just by seeing the title, no, I wouldn't. It sounds like you're trying to make it overly dramatic and tabloid-ish. (Like a true crime novel would tend to be.)

I agree with the one who says just cutting it down to 'The Third Entity' makes it sound more appealing.

Just my take on it, for what it's worth..it's hard to get a feeling from it because I don't understand what "psychotic espionage" means. So, the words taken together detract from the initial power of the word 'psychotic'.

It doesn't make me want to read it. The title is trying to be explicit, it is trying too hard. Psychotic espionage sounds a little silly. No offense, I am trying to help, OK? I would only keep "The third entity". It makes it more mysterious. The fact that the book is about psychotic spies can be written on the back cover. You read that in order to decide to read the book or not, but the title itself must be succint.
