They call that eugenics darling, and thats one of the reasons why people thought Hitler was so terrifying.

when you say retarded people do you mean mentally challenged or just idiotic people? MC people shouldnt be sterilized because they could have a perfectly normal child, and they should be able to have a child if they desire one just like any other person, as long as they are capable of taking care of that child. However, an idiotic person i do believe should be sterilized. If a person is an idiot their children will most likely be too because the parent is one of the major influential people in a childs life and if that idiotic parents acts well idiotic around that child, well, then the child will most likely be the same and thus the cycle continues.

If we're sterilizing the retarded then who are we sterilizing next. Are we going to do everyone with an unpleasant genetic trait? Most mental illnesses are genetic...and there's diabetes, obesity, breast cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol that are all linked at least some to genetics. Maybe we should just sterilize anyone with any of those running in the family. How many of those criteria do you think your mother would have met?

Why do you want to be sterilized?
Retarded parents do not necessarily have retarded children.
Many are productive, hard working members of society.
You question assumes that people can't be taught.
Also, if you are implying that they are a burden to society, why not sterilize people who are genetically pre-disposed to cancer?
What about kids with birth defects?
Once you start sterilizing people, it's hard to draw the line. Who writes the tests. Who is the judge?

Should retarded people be sterilized? NO NO NO Let them be what they are. What is the point in altering some people on the whim and fancy of some other group of people?

this is a very good question that probably will not get a proper answer. not in terms of legislature anyway. i've read in the paper recently about a mentally handicapped man who had his neice on his lap and he had a ***** and was molesting her. they argued that he wasn't aware of his actions and thats where the topic of sterilization came in. if this man were steralized he would not be able to have sex, but wouldn't they still have the urge by instinct or is it because they are handicapped that they wouldn't have that instinct. theres so much to concider and because of that it will never ever happen.

I don't think so. The State has no business granting or removing life, because the rights to life are inherent to each individual, and .are granted by a generic "God", rather than by the State. The Founders were wise when they drafted the Constitution of the United States. If a right to life can be granted by the State, it can also be taken away by political whims.
Talk to the founder of Planned Parenthood. She was really involved in the proper selection of future citizens.

I may never understand why people use the word retarded. If it is cruel to sterilize sex offender, why sterilize someone because they are mentally challenged.

I thought that they WEREN'T allowed to raise children. It's not a matter of "retarded people having retarded kids," it's simply a matter of them not being competent enough to be parents. There's nothing wrong with saying that, either, it's the truth.

No, Adolf, they shouldn't. Retarded people would not necessarily have retarded offspring. Rogue genes show up in the best of families.

NO, they did this years ago, and they made hundreds of mistakes, they sterilized people who couldn't speak the language the test was in, and deaf people, and dislexic people. and many who just weren't educated enough.
