It take time for Window Media to decode the video codecs. It also help if you have lot of RAM and not too many process running in the background. Defrag your PC once a month will also help spped up this process.

windows media player is just slow like that. may b u need more memory. other than that, i use real player to play most of my videos.

your pc might be slow for heavy data & update your media player
