He hasnt ate for almost 3 days or so, maybe longer. I changed his water and tried to feed him again. I dont know what to do. Hes acting very weird. Is there something I can put in his water to help him, or any food suggestions.

sorry but he might be sick..he should be swimming around a lot. have you tried putting a mirror in front of him? he should open his gills at himself (cuz he thinks it's another betta).

But if he doesn't do this, don't bother and get a new one. you probalby just got unlucky with a sick fish.

If he used to eat eagerly and you are feeding pellets, he may have constipation in which case, take a green pea (frozen of fresh), boil it until the pea is squishy, take the squishy insides out of the harder outer shell and dump into the betta tank. Some bettas will eat the pea but others won't (if not all the pea is eaten within an hour, remove it before it begins to rot). Or feed your betta some live food like daphnia. If he still won't eat, then he might have an internal bacteria--which you can try feeding Gel-Tek (read the labels because there are a few ones out that do different things). Make sure you check him over in a bright light to make sure he isn't developing a fungus or other thing. Check the water temp which should be betw. 76-80.

He's probably just very weak from lack of care. Make sure he is warm, if you don't have a heater for his tank, sit it on top of your frig to get the water warmed up. Ich is little white dots like salt grains. I wouldn't medicate him unless you know for sure what the problem is. In a weakened state the wrong medication could be lethal. A bowl is better than a bag but by no means the ideal home for any fish. You need to look into getting at least a 5 gallon tank with a filter and heater in order to keep a healthy fish.

The same thing happened to me a week ago. My betta wasnt eating, and seemed depressed, i tried the betta remedy and a different brand of food and he still wouldnt eat. Hopefully if your betta starts to eating again after treatment or differnt food, you wont have to do what i did.

But if he continues to not eat then I recomend going to the pet store you got him from and ask for either another Betta, or something that will increase his appetite.

If he's constipated (his belly will look a little swollen) don't feed him anything else besides the cooked, shelled pea. Give him two or three days to clear his system up. Fish get constipated from being overfed.

If it's something else, you should see other symptoms besides the lack of appetite and sluggishness. Try doing a google search for 'fish diseases' and read until one sounds right.

Good luck! I hope your fish makes it through.

To increase his desire for food most bettas will eat frozen brine shrimp. Then use Nutrafin Betta food. It seems to be more enticing to them. Bettas can be picky eaters. Mine really enjoy the Nutrafin. Be sure it is their betta food. Have a nice holiday.
