I have a Windows 2000 PC and another PC ( think it is 98 ). Both of them are connected to high speed internet. I think I have a router.

Does this mean that I have a firewall or do I need to get one?

Okay, my mistake, I don't have a router. I guess what I have is a hub. It says 10 Base-T 8-Port Hub.

If you have two computers networked to the Internet using a single Router you may have a built-in hardware firewall in the Router.

Since you did not give the brand of Router it is impossible to say for sure. You manual should explain if it has a built-in firewall.

No, you don't have a firewall. If you have a router, sometimes they block a lot of the ports that a hacker might use, but sometimes not. There's some debate on the usefulness of having a software firewall, but that's mostly in conjunction with the built in firewall in XP. If you're really worried about it, you could download a firewall program - although I don't even know what's good anymore.

Ok a router is also a hardware fallwill too. If you want more one computer connect at the same time from the same interenet then you got have a router. Do people ever read the ******* manual anymore or do their own research online.

sounds like u need 2 upgrade to winxp pro. if both computers are sharing a high speed connection, that means they are connected to either a router or a hub. if u didnt install a firewall on either computer, then u dont have one.
