For the exact same reason that I would try to relate to you. Meeting and conversing with other cultures and nationalities is an invaluable way to expand your outlook. You may look at yourself as a well rounded individual, as I do. But I am astonished that whenever I befriend a person from a different background than my own, I tend to realize how small my view actually is.

Don't take this wrong way, I am by no way saying that you are a bad person. But you are definitely a very close-minded person. Your outlook is extremely juvenile, and the way that you describe your outlook makes you look...well, like how you and many Europeans have stereotyped Americans.

My opinion is to open up a bit and try to learn about other people before you make such a brash statement. There are Americans that are unapproachable and rude, but there are people like that everywhere, including Spain.

So I assume all Spainish people only relate to other Spanish people. This might be difficult in some cases like the internet to actually determine who is Spanish and who is not. A good way to tell is that Spanish people do not relate with non-Spanish people and the rest of the world makes an attempt to relate with all other humans including Spanish people.

The real point is that no White Americans really care if attempt to relate to them or not. The bottom line is...thanks for the 2 points, we white Americans are thrifty huh.

Uh, you don't have to, there's no reason to, and you can't anyway. Unless it's on a topic that affects both of those countries, or the planet, human race. Or, actually, you could relate if you and a specific White American had something in common, or similar situation. Also, why do you put White Americans, and not another race or Nationality?

Its true, you don't have to relate to White Americans at all. Or any other Americans for that matter. But I like Spain, I like the Spaniards. They really know how to party.

If you are European and live in a European place then everyone else should accomodate to the natural habitat (i.e. learn the language, customs... etc) If you go to America be proud of your heritage. But... don't be so arrogant as to think that Americans and America should adapt to YOU.

Americans... You should not expect people to cater to your ways, traditions, and habbits. You should bother to learn the language and the customs of where you are going... Even if you are planning to live there then you can incorporate the customs of your new local area into your own and you can follow or discard whichever ones you do not personally agree with.

Personally... If I go somewhere I learn the language and the customs and respect them as such. I do not go to another place and ecpect them to know my language and my customs... why should they? They don't come from where I do! Neither do you.

Maybe you should me more open minded and try to relate? Do you relate better with other Latinos or other non-caucasian Americans ie Asian, Middle Eastern, Indian?

Why would you want to.
I think you may have a problem.
Possibly an inferiority complex.
I am Scottish, British and European in that order.
I do not find it a problem what nationality people are, even if Spanish.
;-)
Good luck amigos.

America has alot of race and ethnicity problems - so we all have to belong to a category, so we can know which side we are fighting on and who to hate. It's good that you want to be an individual. In fact, the sheer mention of race on these message boards and you will hear some angry comments.
