<>Suggest you go with someone experienced to a large, open, unpopulated area (a mall parking lot after hours, for example). Before starting, run through the gears so you get the pattern. Now, put on the emergency brake, depress the clutch and start the car. Put the shift in 1st gear, release the emergency brake, give it a LITTLE gas and slowly let the clutch out. Practice just moving the car till you get the feel for the clutch. Once you can get moving, bring it up to 20 mph, depress the clutch and let off the gas, change to 2nd gear, let the clutch out smoothly and give it the gas. Practice the other gears, practice smooth stopping by downshifting and braking. In a couple hours you should be shifting smoothly.

You really should have a friend with a manual trans car take you for a ride and explain what he/she is doing. Seeing it and feeling it from the passenger seat will be worth a thousand words. Maybe you know someone who owns an older manual transmission car that would be willing to let you try it out.

Good luck....

its easy to drive a stick, just ko to a spot where there are few/no cars. 1st make sure your in nuetral, step on the clutch, engage 1st gear, release clutch halfway, just small tap on the trotthle/gas pedal, when your moving release clutch, when your going faster 2nd gear above its ok to just step on clutch stich to a gear then release it then the gas(not half way anymore) you only go half-3/4 of clutch when your in need of pulling power. Now go out and drive!

Having been a truck driver for many years, I could sit here and type a long tutorial on how to do it, but this site gives a pretty good tutorial, so I don't have to re-invent the wheel. :-D
