The evergreen tree being used as a part of Christmas dates back to Germany, where it was said to symbolize the everlasting life of the Christ. But the decorating and "worship" of trees dates back even farther, to the time of Druids who believed that spirits lived in trees and made them part of the winter festivities that the Christian holiday eventually replaced.

well....in america they use a tree to celebrate christmas..that begun from germany...but for example in greece we used to decorated lil ships and now we use christmas trees becuase we are influenced by abroad...every civilization has its own roots..

christsmas tree originated from Rome as the pope ordered it to be. decoration depends on the person who displays said christmas tree. if you want to see it as beaautiful as you want it tobe, decorate it if you have the money to spend for ;such decoration. if you have no money for such decoration, you can cut a tamarind tree with fruits to act as decorations.

It was originally a pagan thing. Goodness know why it is part of a celebration of Jesus' birth!
