There are several things that have to be considered to decide if it is worth repairing a vehicle. First is the cost of the repair. You have to look at the overall condition of the vehicle. Are there any other repairs that will need to be done?

How many miles are on the vehicle? Is the engine and transmission in good shape? If you make the repair, how much longer can you reasonably expect to drive the vehicle?

If you decide not to fix the vehicle, do you have alternative means of transportation?

As an example: If you can provide yourself with transportation for 9 months (figuring that is how much longer you could drive the car) after spending $180 for repairs, you would have a monthly cost for the vehicle of $20 ($20 X 9 months = $180)

Look at the condition of the vehicle, and your situation, to see if it is a good move for you to fix or replace the car!!!

Oh hell yes! I own an 89 sentra but mine has the ca16 engine it has a timing chain as apposed to the E-16 engine which has a timing belt and bends all the valves in the cylinder head if the timing belt breaks, I bough mine in about 1993 it had 40K on it now it has 305K and I have not done much to it except normal maint no that doesnt mean oil changes I have changed the oil in prob 20,000 miles passes emissions every year we change the fuel filter every 20,000 miles though.
I have put on about three sets of CV axles on this one but we are planning to keep it another 100,000 mile so if it has the engine without the timing chain go ahead oh how do you know which engine you have? The timing belt engine has a black plastic cover on the passenger side of the engine and the foreward edge of the valve cover is irregular adn the other engien had No black plastic cover and the valve cover has four (4) straight sides. Nissan is one of the toughest cars I know we also have a 94 altima andother timing chain car, and it has been in four accidents and still hs 300,000 miles but it got totaled recently but the engine and tranny still like new body and air bags ar no good so nissan yes yes yes.

Get the CV joints fixed. The complete axle assembly is not too expensive.

CV joints are pretty expensive to replace if, you are sure they need replacing. If it just started to make small clicking noises when you turn the wheel, you might be able to repack them. As to the question; "do I replace them?" That depends on how much you love your car. SORRY!
