I was wondering if religious zealotry is mostly an American epidemic. I've read in various polls that is is, but I was wondering what others have to say about this. Personally, I'm tired of living in a place that supposedly seperates religion from the state, and yet laws are passed all of the time based off of religious morals. Would it be like this in Canada? England? Ireland?

NO! Just turn on the news -- and listen to the Zealots that are spouting off -- also known as the Terror Organizations/States/Nations.

This is a problem the world over -- people using a veneer of 'religion' to try to justify their crimes AGAINST HUMANITY -- that includes using the veneer to cover their acts of mass murder, rape, destruction of property/houses of worship, etc.

Religious Zealously is something that is not exclusive to the United States. Mostly, I see the United States becoming more and more concerned with the separations of Church & State. Also, each region of the world is more or less influenced by their own set of specific belifes... whether it's religously influenced or just what's culturally excepted. Personally, I feel the United States is on the lesser side of the scale in regards to religously motivated laws. However, that is just my own views on the subject.

Where are you reading your polls from? Give me examples how the "evil USA" is basing laws off religous morals. Have you ever heard of a thing called morality and decency? Did you know the founding fathers where god believing men? When they talked about the seperation they ment no state religon. The country is based off christian priciples in which all faiths can embrase.I would advise you to show more backing before you talk bad about my country.

excuse me, do you ever watch the news? have you no concept of the religious wars that are constantly being fought in the middle east? and you never noticed the news stories about the fights...including bombings in the streets of Northern Ireland between Catholics and protestants? we by no means have the corner market on religious zealots, and a strong moral code is not a sin, though i would certainly agree that you can't legislate morality. we apparently have an overlarge share of ignorance over here, though.

Religious zealots seem to be more prevalent in the middle east, however, there are indeed more fundamental Christians in the American bible belt than anywhere else.

ha. no .
irish people have killed each other over religion forever it seems. the answer should be obvious, study a different country every day and mathematically figure it out. it's just the world. you can't escape it. only try to make it better. stand your ground. and be kind.
