Usually my gyno just does the pap smear and pelvic exam, and breast exam. She's never asked for a urine sample or blood sample or anything else. Unless you're being checked for pregnancy or something, I don't see why you'd need a urine test.

everytime I go they ask for a urine sample do a pap and pelvic exam as well as a breast exam. This is all standard. If you are going in with them knowing they are looking for something in addition you may be sent afterwards for blood work as well. Some dr's want to do basic blood work with each exam, others don't.

It is uncomfortable to say the least, especially if you have a male dr. Mine is an older man, my family dr does pap and pelvic exams so while I was pregnant I was seeing a woman OB/GYN and just asked her if I could keep going there for my yearly tests instead. I felt more comfortable going to her. When you are pregnant every visit you have you get a pelvic exam or some sort of cervical swab test done but even still it never gets anymroe comfortable.

Standard check up...you undress, everything but the socks (its usually cold in there)...You lie on the table and give you a breast exam. You need to raise your arm up as they do it. They will move it for you as the maneuver. They will ask you if you are checking regularly for lumps...your probably will say anything other then no.
Then she/he will exam the lower region. You sit on the table and put your legs in the stirrups so you are sitting or laying with your legs wide open. You will be too far from the doctor so they will ask you to move up. It will be uncomfortable at first, you may need to move up more. The will feel around you abdomin and ask you if their is any pain. The will feel around the abdomin with their hands inside you as well. The will apply lubrication to do so. Then they will do a pap smear which is sort of like a throat culture for that region. You just don't gag. After that you are done.

Mine does the Pap and pelvic exam, and also a breast examination. Every other year, she runs bloodwork to test my cholesterol levels. She doesn't do a urine test. I wouldn't say that having my annual gynecological check-up is my favorite thing to do, but I do like knowing that I am taking control of my health. So many conditions can be easily taken care of if they are caught early. Cervical cancer is one of them because it is normally very slow-growing. If you're having annual exams, it is easier for your doctor to catch it early.

probably standard for a urine test, yes pelvic exam and pap smear only every few years. Those usually come as you start to get older. If you have a family history of Uterine cancer, ovarian etc, get them as Doctors tell you to...
