It Plays video games perfectly. But on half the DVD Movies we put in, it wont play/load.
It will play scratched up dvd movies perfectly.. But we put a brand new disc of Ice Age 2:The melt down, and it wont even load that...
Please help.

Btw, my ps2 is a beta.. the PS2 Betas that were issued about a month before original launch of ps2... it is exactly the same ,except it says beta on the case, and you can boot it in kernel mode and other stuff..
The movie, works on my home dvd player..

I know that when PS2 came out there was problems with the dvd player not wanting to work. I went through several of them before i found one that worked properly. Not sure if they have fixed the problem or not but that may be the issue. If it is a new system I would suggest taking it back and exchanging it for a new one.

Did you try and play the movie in anything else(like a normal DVD player)? Maybe there is a problem with the disc. If there is something wrong with your ps2 i think Gamestop or EB Games can fix them but there is some service charges.
If i was you i would think about getting a Xbox 360. It is so much better than PS3. The Nintendo Wii is also good.
JUST DON'T BUY A PS3!!!!!!!!! THEY ARE WASTES OF MONEY!!!!!!!!!!11

Might be some problem in the Ice age CD .. check it on somother device if it still gives any problem .. it means Ice age cd is bad and if it placys check your playstation

is it the old, bulky one, or the new slim one? the ps2 i have(slim) is fitted so that it plays dvds, so maybe yours just isnt compatible.
