i want a ps3 but i decided i was going to wait until the price goes down and the games i want come out. when do you think the price will go down and what do you estimate it will be?

well, let's assume that blue ray doesn't flop. which is a heavy assumption.
sometime around the middle of 2007, there will be enough ps3s that anyone that wants one can just go buy one.
around the end of 2008, one can expect the price to drop to about 550, or even as low as 525.
from what i understand, they cost more than 800 to make each system - each system made is a direct loss of money - they bank on the games and movies being the primary sources of income

Jim says it all. Dont expect them to drop for another year or 2 or even 3.
The ps3s of today cost around 900 dollars to make, with blu-ray and whatnot. Sony is taking a huge risk. they are hoping to make all profit from games and controllers (which only cost 10-20 dollars/game and 5-30 dollars/controller) and they are selling them for almost 60% more than what they paid!

They're expensive alright. I found a 20$ discount on them though, makes them less expensive than XBOX 360 games. http://games.findaps3.com is where I found the information on how to get them - they're real too [no imports or copies], from a well known and trustworthy online retailer.
