The word can means
1. be able to: to have the ability, knowledge, or opportunity to do something
Ex. Can you swim?

2. be allowed to: to be allowed to do something, either by legal or moral right or by permission
Ex. Can I go?

3. be acceptable: used to make polite requests, suggestions, or offers
Ex. Can I make a suggestion?

while could means
1. expressing possibility: used to indicate that something is possibly true or happening in the future
Ex. She thinks that medical technology could be the field for her.

The first means that you are physically able to (and have permission). The second means that you have a choice, you could go to the disco or you could go somewhere else.

the first one states you're very sure you''ll go to the disco. the second one a possibility, meaning you could do something besides going to the disco.
