The so called "hot flashes" occur when a woman is going thru menopause, usually between the ages of 45-50. The hormones are out of balance due to the ovaries ceasing to produce estrogen. A woman may experience frequent moments of feeling very flushed and warm, often worse at night, when the bed clothes might become damp from perspiration. Annoying to most, but tolerable. some are effected worse than others. Replacement hormones may be prescribed by ones doctor.

hot flashes can occur any time, however, they are generally more prevalent while a woman is pregnant or during menopause. Suddenly you just feel like the temperature in the room went up by at least 10 degrees, your face may get red, and you may sweat.

Hot Flashes are a sudden rush of a wave of heat over your body, usually occuring in menopausal and peri-menopausal women. It's nothing bad, it's simply an effect of the change in women's hormones during menopause.
