I guess nobody has thought of it my way. I believe having kids destroys a marriage. You see, when you have kids is when you actually realize that you are both totally opposite in that area. I'm willing to bet that just about every parent will tell you that there is something that their spouse is doing in parenting that is driving them nuts. I believe most differences can be worked out if someone states there's something wrong, but most people wouldn't state such a thing because they would get it back. I love my kids, but that's why my marriage is ending or at least l'm seperated for now. My ex and I have been through most of the things that were stated by the other users. He has cheated, abused a couple of times, lies always, was a drug addict on a few different drugs, picked the lowest of the low for friends which includes one gay child molester. I don't trust him very much and money was always a problem. I always kept those people away from my kids and that is ultimately why he is mad because I will not let my kids near him since he is back to his old ways. The people he picks for friends I have a great disgust and contempt for. Out of everything, we stayed together until I had kids and decided the things he did around me they would not be around. I know that I'm right on my decision. Other relationships probably have normal parenting problems and they still need to be worked on.

The worst threat is money and job issues that leave you too much time apart. If you have quality and quantitity time together you stay close. Its when a partner is left alone for long periods of time that they begin to cheat, its when the money or job becomes more important than the person you are with that marriages break apart. Its impossible for other people to ruin a good marriage, its really easy if the door is left open by neglect.

Apathy !!
Lack of Commitment !!
These are some of the "Threats".
The cheating, lying, abusing etc. are all part of the "Result" of what happens if your marriage is threatened by the former.
If allowed, it slowly creeps in after the initial excitement starts to fade. Instead of a marriage based on love - you stay married out of convenience, security or fear of the unexpected. As this happens, each spouse fails to recognize the needs of the other.
"Cheating" is a result of an unfulfulled need.
If you never let the "courtship" end. The marriage has a better chance to remain strong.
It is NEVER the kids fault - like someone else said.
That's just an excuse of someone not willing to accept their own fault.
Ever hear of someone file for divorce based on "Because we had kids"?
My suggestion: Never let the courtship end.

I believe that the worst threat to a marriage is getting married knowing that divorce is an option. What will destroy a marriage is outside influence - the "he said, she said" factor. Keep your business your own, make your own decisions.

Infidelty is the most devastating betrayl one person can do to another. Relationships rarely survive infildelity. And besides trust
the person cheated on loses self esteem, and neither are easy to regain.

Lying and lack of trust. With those there is no respect, and all three of these will kill a marriage very quickly.

Some people will tell you cheating....
Some people will tell you lying.....
Some people will tell you bringing shame upon the family...
Some people will tell you it is the "In-Laws".....
Me?
It is when the two no longer communicate.
When one decides something that affects the entire marriage and does not consult the other one.
