I feel that the same amount of attention should be paid to the situation in Darfur as the one in Iraq. Why is the Bush administration totally ignoring Darfur and to be honest any other country with people of African descent? Genocide is wrong no matter where it is committed. It just seems wrong that our soldiers are dying in a war that never should have started inthe first place and the people in Darfur are being executed. Without justification. What is the deal??

When Yamamoto struck Pearl we didn't occupy Japan. We established bases within range of Japan first. They called it "Island hopping".

So why didn't we lay the proper groundwork before bumbling into Iraq?

Darfur is actually the right place to START.

OK, to answer the oil response -- although we do have to protect our interests as a nation (oil is a very big one), that is not the sole factor why we are in Iraq. Second, do you not think that the people in the Middle East are brown people? Come on. That is just a very idiotic response. To tell you the truth, I am not familiar with the situation over in Darfur, but I believe that when we (US) act on something, it is usually raised to an interest level of the international community. We are stretched very thin with our constant troop rotations at this point.

I understand thoroughly what you assert. Iraq is crammed with violence and terror. it consistently has been and could be for a protracted time. it is going to take a collaborate attempt (and not in straightforward terms from the U. S., Britain, and a few different countries-- the the remainder of the worldwide might desire to cooperate too-- such as Iraqis!) to end the violence in Iraq. they have been divided over faith for the previous 2,000 years. My husband is interior the protection stress. many electorate don't know this, yet i know for a reality that we've given help to countries in Africa that has in no way reached them. as an occasion, we've dropped crates of food for peasants in straightforward terms to determine a team of warlords thieve them from the adverse, shoot at American planes and any Africans who tried to get the food, and hoard the food for themselves. Our media does not say something approximately that! the substantial to combating each and all the violence, AIDS, and terror in Africa is education. The sufferers now don't know to any extent further suitable; they have been brainwashed and have lived in deplorable circumstances their finished lives. If the worldwide might occasion and instruct those human beings the reward of a few variety of democratic government or valuable secure-intercourse practices, is might actual help. back, besides the shown fact that, this needs to be a collaborative attempt interior the worldwide, such as the individuals of Africa, to make an valuable replace. the comparable concept applies to Iraq. the united states can't be the savior for each individual; others might desire to step as much as the plate besides. i'm hoping that celebrities and others who've severe-profile skill pay interest and help our troops in Iraq and world extensive. no be counted what your political evaluations are, individuals of the united states protection stress possibility their lives so as that we can delight in the liberties that make our united states so valuable. thank you for all which you do. i'm commemorated to have had the prospect to speak with you.

BECAUSE IT IS THE UN'S JOB!!!!!

Africa has been ignored in multiple situations by the UN, including Rwanda, when the UN was already stationed in that country. Also, Zimbabwe had a genocide of all white farmers, so it really is not a race thing.

I think people have given up on Africa.

Is it because the situation in Darfur is so dangerous that the major news organizations aren't sending any reporters? It's the media that decides how important stories are by the number of reporters they send to cover them. Maybe they can't get any reporters to go.

apparently we wait for genocides to end and then about 15 years later we go in saying we're going to "stop the genocide"

basically what we did in Iraq...

apparently we let them get tired of killing people in mass before we decide to stop them...

or maybe Darfur is genocide on too large of a level to warrant U.S. involvement? it's much greater than saddam's purges?

who knows?

Everyone knows that certain people in government are making tons of money off Iraqi oil and defense contracts. It's a shame such things are occurring in this world. Read Alternet website about the oil profits and what a gimmick it all really is.

Iraq has far more political significance than Darfur.

This is why the World perceives the UN as inefficient, useless, and just more political rhetoric. They (UN) should be allocating funds and relief efforts for these tragedies, and monitor other needs (military) if warranted.

The oil, and that Darfur is about brown people. To our eternal shame, the world has written off the entire continent of Africa, sealing their fate to die of aids with no assistance of any significance. We gave them the virus, see the link below, and now we watch as they die. It has been decided, it is a done deal. That is why you never hear about anything going to be done!
