Many people get into fierce battles over words, especially at parties.
If people don't agree with you do you curse them out or let them express themselves and move on?

No, they do not have to agree but they do have to allow me to have a different opinion too. I have never cursed anyone out but I have had heated exchanges with friends over politics. It happens if you have Democrat & Republican friends. We are all still friends & all still have our own political opinions. You rarely change a political view of anyone.

Haha, love the question. And the answer is yes, I totally want everyone to agree with me period. That's the fun of debate: trying to persuade people to believe in what you're saying. I'm the kind of person that is quite opinionated, and I'm not likely to change my position. Therefore, I try my best to get everyone to agree with me.
That said, I recognize that obviously not everyone will agree with me. I know, from some of the more heated answers on this site, that there are many people out there just as opinionated as I am, if not more. When I was in my junior high school debate club, I viewed the other side as the "enemy", which must be vanquished. However, to take that view in real life is simply irrational. I try to pick the fights that I can win; if there's a topic I'm not too strong on, or if there's someone that's obviously getting a little angry, then I sit back and enjoy the show.
In the end, I view debating as simply a pastime, not a hardcore competitive sport. And it's just common sense that in order to get someone to agree with you,you have to show some manners. Do I want people to agree with me? Definitely, but not if it's going to prevent me or someone else from having a good time.

I only really argue with soemone when they try to present a falsehood as a fact. Politics is a very sticky subject, especially for the uninformed. I usually try my best to stay out of those debates because my politics is so far out there, the majority of epople have no idea what I am talking about. So, really I only try and inform at best and in the worst, i correct mistakes. I have already come to terms that a very small minority agree with my poltics and frankly I could care less.

Argue w/them. That's the fun part. I get angry, sometimes, too. But we NEED a difference of opinion, and true discourse is how one learns.
What a terrible world it would be if we all thought the same way--unless it is about world peace and prosperity. There I would say that I wish we all believed in peace, nonviolence, and a chicken or two in the pot for everyone!!

I love arguing politics and enjoy hearing a different point of view. Life would be pretty boring if everyone agreed about everything.

Of course I want everyone to agree with me. If you do not believe your position to be the best available why do you hold it?
That said I am not pushy either. People are either open or closed to persuasion it's a valuable life skill learning to differentiate.

No, I'd like everyone to have the right to share their ideas. We can only know we're making the right decisions if we allow the best ideas to rise to the top. Often people's bad ideas are hidden and they fight hard to keep those ideas in the mix when it would be easier to just let it go.
