I say keep smoking. IT's your body. By smoking you will force his lungs to become stronger. He will become a mutated super baby. Don't we all want super babies? You would be wrong to quit smoking.

I was a smoker until I found out I was pregnant. I didn't quit cold turkey. It took me about two weeks. I gradually cut down on the number of cigarettes, and I changed my routine. My partner helped by not smoking in the house anymore, and I replaced cigarettes with food (not a good idea). The physical addiction is easy to get over. The mental addiction is much harder. The best advice I have is to change your routine and avoid situations where you commonly smoke. Stay away from smokey environments and have your friends and family encourage you not to smoke. Knowing that the baby will be MUCH healthier is a great motivator! Just imagine you are choking the baby with each puff of a cigarette.

want to know how i stopped smoking? when i was about 3 months pregnant, i felt the baby move..my doctor thought i may have been further along then i thought, so he ordered an ultrasound..when i saw the baby moving around like a fish inside me, is when i decided i wanted a happy healthy baby..i just put the ciggs aside, but if i really wanted one, i would light it up take a drag and snub out the rest..the last 2 trimesters i maybe had 1/2 a cigg a day if not every other day..the last 3 to 4 weeks, i didnt even smoke..i wanted that baby very much and if you do, then youll do whats right for you..dont let people make you feel bad either..do whats good for you..good luck and congrats..

No real suggestions, as it's a difficult thing to do and is different for everyone. Start with your cutting back. You might be suprised and find that once you've done that for a day or two, you might not actually want to anymore.

BUT DON'T USE PATCHES, GUMS OR INHALERS! If you really have to, have the cigerette, but don't use those things. They're much more harmful. The cigerette gets to be the lesser of the evils, but not by a lot.

Everytime I wanted a cigarette I would munch on healthy snacks such as; celery with low fat ranch, low fat chips, cucumbers, carrots anything that wouldn't be high in calorie but would give me something to do with my hands or mouth.
I also took up a hobby of knitting, yeah I didn't think I was knitter either but it also gave me something to do with my hands and I made some really nice things for the baby that I was proud of.
Also my husband smoked but I asked him to not smoke in the house anymore (I gave it a good cleaning) or the vehicles and that helped not smelling it. He also didn't smoke when I'd see him.
Good luck I know how hard it is.

The pharmacist told me to use the patches and gradually step down, If you smoke then these will not make any difference because you have nicotine in your system already. But there are a lot of different things that work for different people, talking yourself out of having one, delaying, cutting down one each day etc. Hope this helps.

[*By "you", I mean "your mate"]Whenever you* pick up a cigarette think about the affects it will have on the child. That should make you put it down. You could also try replacing the cigarette with something else that you really enjoy like a favorite food (in small quantities of course). Youre gonna gain a lot of weight anyway, so you might as well enjoy it!

Just knowing the harm it could do to the baby should be enough for anyone to quit. I know one who is four months and smokes like a chimney. I think that it is just a sign of worse things to come

cutting back and slowly quitting or buying packs of spearmint or peppermint gum. DONT USE: the patch, the inhaler or the gum....they will put way too much nicotene in the body to replace the cigarette.

Just do it! Smoking causing premature babies, who are at great risk since their lungs have not had time to properly develop before being born. Be as supportive of her quitting as you can be.

Best wishes.
