I've always assumed it was an analogy between the beaver's two big front teeth and the labia majora. Plus the fur.

I think this is mostly truckers talk, but it is insulting to women. Guess they get carried away on the long hauls and have to act like big stupid men who can't think of the correct term. Beavers are not hairy, they are smart who like to chew down trees. Maybe truckers call their private parts "trees". Ouch. I find it humorus that this certain body part has so many silly names. A rose by any other name is still a rose.
