Im in grade 10 and Im straight edge. I dont drink or do drugs or smoke for that matter. Honestly, it does seem like everybody drinks plus has sex or whatever. those things dont need to be experianced (if you will) at our age. Like the first commenter, we got a whole life ahead of us, and so does your friend. So either except the fact that she drinks or dont, but that doesnt mean break up with her. I have lots of friends that drink and lots that dont. But neither of them have I broken up with. As much as I hate that they drink or have had sex or what not, I still stick by them. It takes a real friend to do that, and hopefully your friend will notice just how good of a person you are.

Since I'm over 25 you'll have to take everything I say with a grain of salt. First, drinking or other drugs alters your state of consciousness. If you are unhappy with your state of consciousness, then you may turn to drugs (alcohol is a drug) for relief. If you are happy with the way you are, why change anything? The best thing you can ever do is learn to love yourself. If you really love yourself you won't do something that will hurt you. Alcohol and other drugs kill brain cells, inhibit the proper functioning of the body (especially the brain) and obviously present serious dangers to the user. If you honor yourself you will find you can only enjoy other people who honor themselves. Show me who a person's friends are and I will show you what that person things about them self. If the friends are alcoholics and/or druggies, that's probably what the person thinks about them self. If you love and honor yourself you will love and honor your body. Talk to your "friend" and discuss with them how they are served by taking alcohol. Examine the answer and see if it true for you. I suspect not, otherwise you wouldn't be asking the question.

Not everyone is drinking even though it may seem like it. Just because they are drinking doesn't mean you need to. You can still be friends with your friend as long as it doesn't get you into trouble.

my daughter is in the 10th grade & alot of her friends have already began drinking & what not. You don't have to end your friendship with her, just be her friend & tell her that she might want to slow down, that shes got a whole life to do those things & if she keeps doing it, she could do things that she will regret in the future. take care

YOU SOUND LIKE YOU HAVE SOME CLASS. DUMP THAT LOSER AND GET ON WITH YOUR LIFE. IF SHE IS TRULY YOUR FRIEND SHE WOULD STOP BEING SO HIGH MAINTENANCE ON YOU AND WILL FOLLOW THE BEST EXAMPLE ON HOW TO BE A REAL FRIEND. DON'T BE AFRAID, BE A FRIEND TO YOUR FUTURE. I TO HAD A "FRIEND" LIKE THAT WHO ALMOST GOT ME IN TROUBLE. I SHOULD SAY, I GOT MYSELF IN TROUBLE. NO MORE. I CHOOSE LIFE. TOO MUCH FUN IN THE WORLD TO WASTE IT ON DRINKING. I WANT TO TAKE IT ALL IN. NOT WASTE IT. TELL YOUR FRIEND TO JOIN YOU, NOT THE BOTTLE. ONE DAY YOU ARE REALLY GOING TO NEED A FRIEND WHO YOU WILL NEED TO BE ALERT AND UNDERSTANDING FOR WHAT YOUR GOING THROUGH IN LIFE. IF SHE CAN'T RELATE BECAUSE SHE'S TOO BUSY GETTING DRUNK, WHAT THE *#@^ YOU NEED THAT FOR. GO ON A REAL TRIP SOMETIME AFTER COLLEGE. YOU MIGHT SAVE HER TOO. BUT, IT'S ALWAYS UP TO YOU. :) I CAN TELL YOU WERE BORN TO FLY, NOT DIE!!

You don't need to break up your friendship. Let her know your feelings. Do you agree with drinking or disagree. If she is a true friend, she will respect your feelings.

That is your choice, just remember, you are judged by who you associate with. Be careful.
