Okay, last year, I was in a class at school, required class, called PACE.( personal finance and career exploration.) In the class we had a project where you set up a budget accordign to your job you were given and the job you choose... I picked the one that paid the most. I picked 'gy na cology' I had no clue what it was... And being Brazilian and never been told anything about this I assued they worked with genes. Luckily my friend, a girl, explained what it was and I was beside myself and quickly selected another job.

does anyone have a similiar story.

There's nothing wrong with gynecology, by the way. It's a perfectly legitimate job, and many men do it.

When I was living in Mexico, one of the kids of the family I was living with called me by a cute nickname. I misunderstood him, though, and thought that he was calling me an inappropriate word. I started scolding him for this when, by his sweet expression and his protests, I realized that he was actually trying to be very sweet. I felt terrible for getting upset with him.

I almost got hit by a car vacationing in England where they drive on the opposite side of the street that I am used to. At the time I lived in a big city in america and i did a lot of walking. I was so used to looking to the right as I stepped into the street that on several occasions someone pulled me out of the way of an oncoming car. It can be a totally different world across cultures.

Peace!

Funny. A similar thing happened when I went to dinner with a friend of mine who came from china. I asked the waitress if they had po po platter, which is common to restaraunts in the north, to which the waitress said no. After looking across the table, my friend had an absolutley horrified look on her face, and when I asked if she was alright.. she stated... please dont talk dirty ,,,.. it is not funny and it makes me uncomfortable. Hysterical! She actually thought that I was trying to be funny, asking for a platter of poop? Talk about cultural misunderstandings...
