In the USA when you fill out gov't documents regarding nationality, North Africans for some reason are considered white. I have gone to school with Egyptians - brown and black looking Egyptians with wide noses and thick lips. An aquaintance of mine is from Saudi and although she is pale, her nose is wider than Micheal Jackson's of the 1970's. These people are black or Arab. But many Arabs look black. So how are Arabs classified in different category when at most many of them are just mulatto or mulatto offspring?

And why do the Lebanese consider themselves white?

OK where did you get that from. It's true that there are some really light colored Arabs. for example, my fiance is an Arab and he has blond hair and blue eyes and he is 100% Arab. Not of mix backgrounds what so ever! A lot of Arabs without the traditional covering would blend right in to the American culture and if they don't open their mouth and come out with an Arabian accent no one would ever know. Arabs actually take up more then 25 percent of the American population it's just we blend in so much no one ever notices.

I don't think you understand the question. In the USA when you fill out gov't documents regarding nationality, North Africans for some reason are considered white. On some USA documents they are placed in this category.

Huh? Who says? Mediterranean maybe.

Perhaps the ancient ones weren't as dark as some other Africans. But that doesn't take into account the Upper Nile kingdom where most were certainly dark. Also check out the link below and see if the Egyptian God Anubis was represented as more of a tan color.
