The Afghan war wasn't about the Taliban or Bin Laden. The Taliban are still there and Bin Laden could be in Walt Disney World, Florida for all Bush cares.

The Afghan war was needed to finish installing an oil pipeline from the Caspian Sea. The Afghan war finished exactly when the pipeline was complete, and then the US troops moved to protect the oil. Then the Taliban came back from Pakistan and struck a deal with international Opium barons to grow Heroin.

The Poppy crop is actually over 2000% up compared to 2002. Believe it or not, the CIA is in on it too and the profits help fund black ops military projects. Cocaine and Heroin trafficking is how the Stealth bomber was financed all those decades ago.

Only partially.

The main reason for the Afghan war is to be able to safely run an oil pipline through Afghanistan and Pakistan to the Coast.

Since Bush and Blair got involved production seems to have gone up I cannot help wondering if they believe the poppy is also a flower.

That was a secondary goal, the real reason was retaliation for
an Enron oil deal gone bad.
