yes i have 2 of them and my kids hold them every day and they love it. they sit on the shoulders and just kick it there. they won't be lovey dovey but they will be a good pet. they are great for new reptile owners and they are easy to care for as long as you have all the right things for them. make sure that you have the tank, heat pad(under tank heater), heat light(top), uvb light, water bowl, substrate(carefresh), hiding place, log for climbing or for basking, vitamins(calcium &mult-vitamin both by repti-cal). you want to make sure that you keep the temp during the day at 86-88 and during the night 82-84.feed them fruits and veggies, crickets, mealworms, and when they get older they can be fed pinkie mice(extra protein), but do that once every other week. well good luck with your new beardy, they are fun to have.

Generally, yes, bearded dragons are fairly easy to take care of. I've had experiance with almost any pet you can think of. We have fostered animals since I was young, including reptiles. I got my beardie about 9 months ago. Love him to death, would never think twice about getting him. But his life has been difficult. Everything started off nice and smooth. He was about six months old at the time, seemed be active and healthy (hadnt yet eaten much but I figured it was due to stress). He came from a friends kid who had grown tired of Tobey. A couple days after bringing him home, I found him very lethargic, still hadn't eaten, so I brought my brand new baby to the vet, only to find he had two different parasites, a calcium deficiency, and mouth rot. Over the months, I have slowly nursed him back to health, but he is currently on liquid food that has to be fed to him, and I have spent lots of time and money. Just be aware of what you could be getting into. This goes for any pet.

If you are referring to Australian Bearded Dragon Lizards,
Yes.

They make wonderful pets. However, you really need to research the do's and do not's. They need particular lighting to keep them happy, healthy and nice. They need a temperature of 60 to 80 degrees, which they can get from the light. You need a digital thermometer to monitor their environmental temperature.

There are certain foods they need and some they cannot have.

Yes, they do like water this is from experience not info/research.
Romaine lettuce is good for them. And they really like it.
Iceberg lettuce can harm their health and eventually kill them.
They need protein. Crickets are not only a good source of protein but they love the hunt. Bland/cooked chicken too.
Cut up rinsed raw carrots, bell peppers, broccoli, sugar snap peas, apples, cantaloupe and a variety of fruits and vegetables.

None contaminated dandelions and clover.
(Dry cat food is a good fall back)
No avocados.

Check on the web sites for more information. But I have found through experience they like to eat small amounts everyday versus the stories told of feeding them only once a week.

Create a good and stimulating environment for them. I use play sand from Wal-Mart….cheap
I have collected a variety of slate rocks along side of the bluffs and tree limbs near our home versus paying an outrageous price for them at the pet stores. Just clean them with a water hose and rinse good.

Be gentle with them and periodically get them out to intereact with them. When you are cleaning the area or feeding them get in the habit of gently rubbing their heads and remember there bodies are small and fragile compaired to ours so be nice.
They do have personalities...enjoy and put their aquarium in front of a window. They love to lay out in the sun.

Yes definatly. They have a lot of personality and they arent as high of maitenence as some other reptiles. They are a little expensive with the heat, UVB, and crickets and worms; but it is all worth it. They are like dogs without the fur; they are very docile. And they are easily tamed.

We rescue reptiles, and we currently have 3 of the 6 reptiles we have right now are beardies; i am in love with them!

beardies are wonderful pets. They are calm, handleable, and can be taught to walk on a leash even.(2 of mine do). They also are a bit more hardy than other reptile species. Just make sure you know about the space, temperature and feeding before you decide to get one. Good luck!

Yep, they are even Crested Geckos are too, but a crested gecko cost more then a baby bearded dragon. Baby Bearded Dragons cost $70.00 - Crested Geckos cost $100.00 - $400.00 dollars. My friend has about 7 reptiles, and are sooo cool.

the bearded dragon is not the easiest lizard to keep. the gecko is the easiest and the iguana is in the middle. if you are a beginner then i don't recommend the bearded dragon.

They're one of the few reptiles that I like. If I had the time and room to devote to one, I would certainly get one.
