I have a swordtail...female obviously.
i have done some research, and it says that there should be a black mark on her lower abdomen. i dont see any black mark, but she has gotten pretty huge and poops a lot. plus, she is already black....heh
how long are these fish pregnant for??
if you can send me any links or info, that would be GREAT.
i'm just worried because i want to be able to monitor her and get a breeding net and stuff, you know.
i really care about my fishy!

My swordtail had babbies awhile ago, I accualy had no idea she was until I saw tiny black dots swiming around the tank one day. to be on the safe side buy plants that really tiny fish can get into because as soon as they are born they are food to everything in the tank including the mother. They make specail plants for these baby fish until u can get them in a specail attachment for baby fish. Just watch her and check the tank alot to see if you notice any changes

gestation is around 22-26 days give or take, and thats if and when she got prego. Go ahead and place her in the breeding net or you might miss your opertunity to seperate the babys from adults

Keep a close watch on her, and keep looking for the signs you read about. Chances are she is probably pregnant. GOOD LUCK to you and your fishes.
