msn, or any chat system, i have one and i talk to everybody, but i'm the one always starting the convo...so i decided to for 1 week just do nothing but sign in to msn and see what happens, i have lot friend anyone can talk to me if they want, but it just seem like that they just have a msn account for no reason at all...i just think thats weird why have a chat system if your not gonna chat with you friends specially the ones you dont see as often any suggestion why?

Yeap,,,, I prefer Yahoo messenger over msn anyway, I also use myspace. There are other messengers available. Most people start with msn, but later find out other messengers are more fun. Sometimes I log in msn as invisible just to see who is there. If there is nobody I want to talk to I just logg off and logg into other messenger. I love myspace. I just love sending and receiving comments.

So ... because they aren't chatting with YOU, you believe they aren't active in using their accounts?
List of reason, in answer to your question.
- they could be using it solely for an email address, as hotmail is the most popular email service online.
- they could be busy
- your timing could suck
- they could be in the middle of another conversation
- they could leave their msn open for messages and to be notified of emails, but not interested in conversation at the moment
There are thousands of reasons why. I have my msn open daily, that doesn't mean I want to talk to people on my list 24/7.
And MSN chatrooms have been dead since public rooms were removed.

I have an MSN account but i hardly use it. I use my yahoo more. MSN is like insurance You have to have it and It could come in handy one day.
