Marin County, the Silicon Valley area (cities of Palo Alto, Atherton and Menlo Park), East Bay (cities of Oakland Hills and Berkeley) are above average areas in terms of housing market.

San Francisco itself (Pacific Heights for example) is also very hot in terms of house prices.

vakayil k, a) using wikipedia is annoying and means you just like to answer for the sake of doing important in your life, and b) you didn't even answer the question.

Marin county is wealthy, but coastal (as you can imagine, the expensive real estate is along the coast).

How about Placer County, but near the Lake Tahoe areal. There's also El Dorado County.

And you can't miss Napa County.

The U.S. state of California is divided into 58 counties. Counties are responsible for local services and law enforcement for areas within their borders that are not within incorporated cities, as well as providing local-level courts

The state has the most Roman Catholics of any state, a large American Jewish community, and a rapidly-growing Islamic population.
