I am 23 and work at Jewel. After my shift I was going to buy liqour and cigars. Everyone I work with knows I'm over 21 years old. When I went to pay for it they asked me for ID. The pay by touch is supposed to verify my age, but for some reason it didn't work. I thought see was joking since she clearly knows im over 21. She asked the manager, and she said if he didn't have it, then don't sell it to him. She says how do we know you are 21. I said, you seen me sell liqour, so how can I sell liquor, but not buy, it. I think they didn't want me smoking and drinking because they say its bad for, me which is true, but thats besides the point. Then I though, I would see if the pay by touch would work on register 1, it didn't. The other person didn't sell it to me ether. I know they they technically had a right to rufuese, but should they of, since they clearly knew I was over 21. This is also the first time i have been carded. I bought liqour many times their.

I also had the liquor selling card on me, that shows I have a right to sell it. Do you think what they did was morally wrong?

There are a few factors that might have been in effect that you were nott aware of. For instance, if there was somebody from the liquor control board there, they might have witnessed the transaction and caused a lot of headaches. Also, if you said anything that made them suspect you were buying for people underage, they have the right and responsiblity to refuse the sale.
It depends on which state you are in, but some states allow 19 year olds to sell alcohol, even though they cannot purchase it legally. I do not know where you are from and what the local laws are; but where I live, you must provide proof of age, upon demand of the retailer, to buy alcohol or cigarettes. Your authorization card to sell alcohol is not a valid ID unless the state that issued it says it is. When you were trained to sell liquor, didn't they give you lessons and rules as to what were acceptible forms of ID?
If you don't like this, tough. You should have had the necessary ID when you went to buy.

Maybe, they do not know that you bought liquor from them in the past. Thus, they are not denying you this time. Appeal to them that you should be given the chance since you are already 21. The best remedy is for you to bring always an ID to prove that you are 21.

it seems like they followed the law and company policy to me. Even though you could prove it and they know it, it's still company policy to check a valid ID in order to sell age restricted products. They don't know if you were working for people higher up, testing them. It's law to require an ID, so what they did was the right thign to do, no matter how wrong it seems to you. It's a bit strict in my opinion, but there isn't anything morally wrong with what they did.

Moral or immoral can only be judged by their motivation, not their actions. Only they know their motivations, so no one can answer if it was moral or not.
They were *****, however, and I would call in sick at the last minute on your next shift. Or quit and tell them why.
BTW, in some states it is illegal to possess alcohol without a valid ID. You could be arrested no matter how old you are if you are in possession of alcohol and don't have ID.

dude, sorry for the lack of better words, but your a fuc'king moron
it has nothing to do with morality or ethics, what is wrong with you?
are you sure your over 21? because your logic is of a 3 year old
YOU HAVE TO HAVE YOUR ID TO PROVE YOUR OLD ENOUGH TO BUY IT. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IF THEY PERSONALLY KNOW YOUR OVER 21 OR NOT
they need to card everyone. if they could make exceptions for people and then mess up on one exception that they thought were over 21 then the whole systems fails. if you have to card oner person, you have to card them all. thats it. end of story. stop crying over it, you KNOW the law says you need to show your ID no matter what so why are you crying about this?
again, sorry, but your a fuc'king moron
seriously, grow up and learn to have common sense about needed ID for that stuff

I wouldn't have sold to you either. Most companies have a policy of carding anybody who looks under a certain age. That's because the BATF likes to send in minors to check and the fines are huge. They were just doing what they were supposed to do..
