Austin actually. Healey were doing their own thing until 1952 when they made a deal with Austin. From 1953 they were manufactured under the Austin name at Longbridge.

BL wasn't created in 1968 by nationalizing the car industry, long after the Healey was first made. There was only one Austin Healey made in 1968 and that was it.

British Motor Corp. made Healey's up until 1968, at which point British Leyland took over. 1972 was the last production year.

In the late 1960s, I owned a bug-eyed Sprite. It was a fun little car. Mine was a 1960 model. I've included a website address that tells you about their history. British Motors was the original producer, before Leyland bought them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin-Healey
