Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler. We all know what kind of man he was and what happened, but if you're open minded enough to get past that, you should read it. He wrote it before he even became a man of power in Germany. All horrendous tragedies aside, this man was very wise and had great ideas... but like most men, his greed for power (in this case world domination by ANY means) overtook a smart man turned him into one of the most evil people of all time. READ IT. It's worth it.

Can't think of anything in particular. But I just read a great autobiography called loosing layla. It was more womans reading material..... but my point is often the stories of ordinary people and their complicated lives can be the most inspiring! I picked up that book on a whim and I completely related to this woman and it's relevance to my life at the moment was uncanny. sometimes a really good book will just find you. Whenever I go out looking for something I never find it. I also liked elizabeth wurtzels stories. First one was prozac nation and the second one was here, now, again. But again more female reading. Plus perhaps a little heavy... but that's my style.

Bible is def #1 but #2 is The Kite Runner. It's a crazy title but it's an amazing book. It really opened my eyes about how things are in the Muslim world.

Stranger in a Strange land... it showed me how foolish man invented "religion" is... I did not join a couple of cults I probably would have otherwise...It took me 29 more yrs to come to God and to realize that The Bible is not a Book and that The True Christian Faith is not a man invented "religion"

Pilgrims Progress, it is a metaphoric type of book about a Christian in the world and all his trials, it was written by John Bunyan I believe while he was in jail or prison I think for his religious beliefs..... I thought it was very interesting and thought provoking. The characters in the book are referred to by a name that indicates their purpose... much like the movie the Matrix.

The Harry Potter series, though you probably wouldn't want to read that. It opened my eyes to a world of fantasy and wonder, a way to escape this crappy, dead-end world.
