Voyager.
Though TNG and DS9 added a wealth of color to the Star Trek universe with interesting characters, new enemies, and a more realistic, gritty, and "less than perfect" Federation (like the Maquie storylines) they were not as dynamic as Voyager.
Since Voyager was set in the Delta Quadrant it was a completely new arena. It had a fresh start to introduce completely new races, technologies, and cultures without having to revolve around the same Alpha Quadrant races, political bodies, and technology. Everything in TNG and DS9 had to have a "reasonable" explanation for its introduction into the Star Trek universe centered in the Alpha Quadrant and this often put limitations on how a new race or culture was introduced along how much of an improvement can be made to technology. Voyager didn't have those limitations and was free to introduce radical and fantastic technologies (Crenem Cronoton Torpedoes, Borg technology, futuristic 24th century mobile hologram emitters, etc.) that would shatter the fabric of the known Alpha Quadrant, but made no difference in the Delta Quadrant.
In a way Voyager brought back the spirit of the original series where nearly every thing was new and being dicovered for the first time, new technology and devices appeared as needed with the return to using "techno-babble" to explain away their incredible new capabilities, and yet there was still a connection to the familiar Star Trek universe. There was always plenty of action (The Kazon Sects, The Borg, The Crenum, Species 8472, and Hirogen) between the parts of character development stories and it was rarely boring.
I would have to say my favorite character is 7of9 quickly followed by the EMH. Both characters have much more interesting storylines from the others and remain unique as they grow and evolve from their simple beginings. What puts 7of9 over the top is her sexiness and she is the most attractive of the Voyager characters.

TNG, without which there would never have been a Voyager or DS9.
TNG did have more diverse plots and more in-depth characters that you cared about (and more quality episodes). I watched Voyager from the beginning and there were a few good episodes, but, like DS9, the series finales seemed to be kind of thrown together like no one had thought the story arcs through. IN MY OPINION, DS9 devolved into an 'aliens are just people wearing masks' series, where the aliens (especially during the dreadful baseball episode) were acting like like who they were supposed to be, but like actors wearing masks. Yes, I know that they really are actors wearing masks, but there was just no character depth.
Enterprise was a good series for what it was: back story and Trek history. There were alot of 'Oh, THAT's why...' moments in Enterprise, like why the Federation didn't have holotechnology until after the Kittimer Accords (because the Klingons had the technology from another race whose name escapes me), or why Klingons looked the way the did in the original Star Trek, but different in the ST movies or TNG and after.
As far as a favorite character: Picard and Data both kicked butt, so it's between the two of them.

DS9 was a birth that should have never been.
TNG was decent, they had a good cast, the characters were lively, the action and effects were good, but the characters lacked the depth of personality that Voyager had. Voyager was a deeply emotional series, which could have benefitted from more cast members like TNG had.
If they could create a new series, with a cast that had the action, suspense, and drama of TNG, but still hold on to the depth of the cast from Voyager, they'd make a great series.
I'd have to say that of them all I liked Data, Cpt. Janeway (for an older woman she would have given Picard a run for his money), Picard, Deanna Troi, and the holographic Doctor.

The Next Generation, hands down. The plots were much more diverse and entertaining. DS9 had too much of the story depending on Ferengi shenanigans. Voyager's crew was always crying about having to get back home, but at least was more intelligent than DS9. But, I miss all of them, I wish new shows of each still aired. Did I mention that I was in love with Data? heheh!
However, I really dig the new Battlestar Galactica!
Hmmm...How odd... Someone actually gives me a thumbs down on my own personal opinion of some TV shows? Well, I say that whoever did that, unless you were actually part of the cast who made any of the shows, you have no right to give me a thumbs down on my own personal opinion. I think I have a valid soapbox to stand on this point.

None of the above. The original with Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty, Chekov, Uhuru and Sulu was far and away the best. That was the series that stuck closest to Gene Roddenberry's vision of a better future and world where people of all races lived and worked together. The others were all done for money and were poor copies of the original Star Trek vision.
Favorite character - where would the universe and world be without Spock?

TNG will always be my favorite show. Captain Picard is an awesome captain. He is a man who demands the respect of his crew in the right way. Data is my fave, just an amazing character, so complex, so funny, and so human. I love Worf, I began to think he was hot. :) My other fave, thought not a regular, was Q. He is hysterical. I love every one of the Q episodes, especially the Robin Hood one. "I am NOT a merry man." --Worf
This is a character driven show , where the original seemed more action driven. I prefer to get to know a group of people and see their personal struggles and see them grow as people. They enhanced this with Data's issues. They explored social issues and presented us with a hopeful future to strive for.

The Next Generation. My fav character was William Riker whom I also had an enormous crush on. Still do actually. it was the best of the series of Star Treks b/c the plots were the coolest as were the characters. By the way, your screen name rocks. That SNL Jeopardy skit is one of my favorites.

All one enormous famous individual Trek universe. whilst worf and Deanna Troy broke up, and the employer group had moved on, after the deliver replaced into destroyed, Worf have been given a sparkling interest. He replaced into in straightforward terms meant to assist out on the station on a momentary foundation, yet Ben Sisco asked him to outlive. He replaced into interior the direction of thinking leaving famous individual fleet for stable. yet Ben's grant replaced into too stable to stand as much as. chief O'brien moved to the station whilst the Federation took over - ie, whilst the Cardasians left Bajor. He transferred from the employer whilst the placement of chief engineer grew to alter into accessible. on the deliver, he had consistently lived below the shadow of Geordie. on the gap station, he ought to unfold his wings and coach his expertise as an engineer. like the different spin off series, characters can pass over. it relatively is up the the writers to locate a reliable thank you to describe their presence. i think of they did it nicely with DS9. extremely some the characters from the employer grew to become up additionally as travelers on Voyager. That replaced right into a no longer basic one to administration, yet they controlled it.

TNG. It was separate enough from the original that it didn't affect the plot and more than enough time had passed that original looked a little campy in comparison. Capt. Picard, of course.
