I got this item for my birthday and I want to use it exclusively for mp3 storage. I will be getting an adapter that runs off the cig lighter in my car and sends the music through my FM radio signal.

Anyway, as I said it is 1G and there is understandably a little space taken up for the tutorial etc, and then there are some security programs, etc to use for more important data than I will need to protect. First, I would like to know if I can delete anything off the systems files re: theses features of the drive because I will not be using them.

Actually, the cut and paste process is coming up rather short. I had a nice folder set up from my tower with 843MB of music files on it, well within what the properties showed was available. I wanted it all to go on the traveldrive. It started to move the files, and then with about 1/3 of the songs left to move, and 357MB left on the traveldrive to fill up, it said the drive was full and couldn't move anymore music. What am I doing wrong?

try formatting the drive.
THIS OPTION WILL DELETE EVERYTHING OFF OF IT!
so please take caution in this process. & back everything up before hand

i will walk you through it.

1) click start.
2) open all programs
3) open accesories
4) click on "command prompt"
5) type "format X:"
(where "x" is the drive letter for the flash device.)
it will ask if you are sure.
type "y" & click yes.
& it will show you the progress on your format.

let me know how it goes!

There is no reason why you cannot delete any programs on the drive you do not need. If your going to just use it for music, I would delete all the files on there first, then reformat it and just load on the MP3's.

If you intend to also store other files, its better to use a seperate flash drive for security reasons, in case you loose the drive, or leave it in the car and it gets stolen.
